Short Description of Instrument |
RBD-I is a five-item instrument designed to screen for the presence of RBD.
The first part of RBD-I asks about the presence of five aspects of RBD symptoms (violent/aggressive dream content, sleep-related vocalizations, sleep-related extensive movements, sleep-related injurious behaviors, and dream-behavior isomorphism). The responses can be given as: 'yes,' 'no,' or 'don't know.' RBD symptom score is calculated by dividing the number of positive responses (yes) by the number of answered items. The total RBD symptom scores range from 0 (minimum) to 1 (maximum).
The second part of RBD-I is designed to assess the frequency of symptoms in the past year with the following response options: never = 0, rare (once to a few times per year) = 1, occasional (once to a few times per month) = 2, frequent (1-2 times per week) = 3, very frequent (more than 2 times per week) = 4. RBD frequency score is calculated by dividing the number of answered items by the total number of items, with a possible score ranging from 0 (minimum) to 4 (maximum).
